GREEN MEN AND BOTANICALS +

Global warming troubles my lifelong  peaceful enjoyment of forests, sunlight and the ocean.   As each of us must do what we are best suited to do, this show is my way of expressing love and worry for our planet.  The Green Man myth focused me, though a synopsis of Green Man’s history you will be able read at the show will amuse you who enjoy the uncertainties of recorded history when you discover his actual origins.  Celebrating our natural world I also turn to botanist/photographer Blossfeldt whose close up images of plants are magnificent.  And last but not least I dedicate this show to my father’s youngest brother Arne whose 100thbirthday  would have been  January 27th  - though he died at 97.  After reading Rachel Carson he turned his back on his academic career in philosophy to create ‘deep ecology’  known as Ecosophy and become a European leader in environmental politics.  His capacity for wonder and delight observing nature never left him and is an affirming inspiration to me.

LITTLE POTS FROM THE HOLIDAY ANNOUNCEMENT 2011

Take time to look through the various pages of this site. I add and shift images of work-mixing old and new. One of the pleasures of managing the site myself is adding images of new work as it comes out of the kiln. Most of what I put on the site is available or can be ordered. Sculpture is one off, so once gone, it's gone.

Many functional pieces are made to tap into your imagination. How would you use a tiny little vase- for flower that broke off when you opened a floral gift or weeded the garden? A basket - for flowers or indoor bulbs in the winter? For stones alone or bits of fascinating wood or paper- or perhaps ceramic shards....
